Hubert van Zandvoort is Director of Digital Engineering and Automation at Royal HaskoningDHV South Africa, and the lead for supporting a ‘Digital Way of Working’ across the business.
He worked as a Civil and Structural Engineer on multidisciplinary teams at both Royal HaskoningDHV and Group 5, before becoming an engineering consultant. Watching how the industry was changing to adapt to climate change, Hubert developed a passion for green buildings and sustainable construction, and in empowering young engineers and his clients with this knowledge.
He’s now turned his focus to Innovation and Added Value Services, working with teams across Royal HaskoningDHV in Southern Africa to equip them with the skills to use new technologies – from BIM and point cloud scanning, to augmented reality, virtual reality, drones, and data science - to improve the engineering services they deliver. In doing this, he helps teams create new opportunities to add value to clients’ business models, ROI, efficiency, and product and service lines.
Hubert believes in supportive client education around digital services and automation, a flexible approach, and the need to create transparency and trust around expected outcomes, which must always be linked to a positive impact in the business life cycle.
He has extensive experience across industries including education, real estate, health, water, transport and energy.
Hubert holds a Msc Engineering from Wits University and an HTS, Civil Structural from Saxion University of Applied Sciences.
