Professor Pilate Moyo

Associate Professor Pilate Moyo graduated with a BSc. Honours in Civil Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe in 1992, a MSc. (Structural Engineering) from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1995 and a PhD (Structural Engineering) from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2002. Pilate has worked as a Civil Engineer for the City of Bulawayo, Research Scientist, for the Scientific & Industrial Research & Development Centre, and Lecturer at the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe. He was appointed Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town in April 2003.

His research area is structural health monitoring and condition assessment of structures with particular interests in, developing structural health monitoring and surveillance systems for bridges and building structures, development, testing and deployment of sensors for structural health monitoring, identification and characterisation of live loads on bridges using health monitoring systems, full-scale vibration testing and system identification of large structures, integration of structural health monitoring systems with bridge management systems, advanced signal processing using wavelets, statistical analysis and time series analysis of structural monitoring data.
